There are so many projects that you can do using clay pots. We’ve done some also: clay pot men / women, clay pot bird feeder, even a clay pot snowman or Santa. You can decorate and also paint the clay pots very easy. Today’s DIY idea is so easy to make. An inexpensive project that you can do together with your family. You can make a small DIY clay pot lighthouse or a big one depending on the clay pot’s and saucer size.
You will need the following materials and supplies: 4 1/4, 6 inch clay saucers, 4 1/4, 6, 8 1/4 clay pots, adhesive special for terracotta / ceramics, universal acrylic gloss enamel (black color and white color), blue / yellow paint and paint brushes.
Instructions: clean very well the clay pots and remove any residue. Prepare your working station: an outside table, or down on the grown on some newspapers. Take the largest clay pot and turn it upside down. Add quite a bit of adhesive on the top and sides of the clay pot. Now add the midsize clay pot upside down on top of the big one. Now add adhesive the same way you did to the big clay pot. Take the largest saucer and add it on top of the midsize clay pot. Add adhesive also on the top of the saucer. Just make sure that the saucer rim is clean (without any adhesive). Take the small clay pot and add adhesive on the outer rim. Put the clay pot upside down on the saucer. Let everything dry over night. Now its painting time!! Use white and one of the brushes and paint all the clay pots and also the first saucer. Paint the saucer from the top with black. You can use any other color you want if you don’t want to use black: yellow, green, red. Let everything dry well. It my take one night depending on the paint instructions. Add another paint coat on the lighthouse. Using a pencil draw a window in the middle of the lighthouse. Use black to paint it. Use the pencil and make main windows at the top of the little lighthouse. Paint also the main windows with yellow or blue. Now let everything dry and all you have to do is to find place for your beautiful clay pot lighthouse. Enjoy!!!
