DIY Knitted Scarf Using A Hook

Even if its not so cold outside we still need winter scarfs to protect our neck!!! The next DIY tutorial will teach you how to make a scarf using a hock. You will fall instantly in love with this crazy scarf and delicious colors. Its true that you will need some knitting skills but once you get the hang of this it will be as easy as a “piece of cake”. Also another “skill” that you will need is lots and lots of patience. You will acrylic yarn plus 225 m/50 g five fun colors. Also you will need a 2.5 mm hook and line, 4 cm wide and 15 cm long line width depending on the thickness of the yarn and how tight you want your scarf to be. What’s good to know is that a narrow line of the scarf will be more dense and broad (with lots of “holes” in it). You will need also a a piece of cardboard which you will have to perforate and make holes in the middle of it. Take the yellow yarn and start knitting a long chain or air loops. For a 170 cm long scarf you will need approximately 400 “stitches”. Put the hook in the chain link and grab the thread. Pull the “nose” of the chain and put the hook once again on the line. Pull up the thread but be careful not to pull it to hard because you will stretch the yarn. Continue in the same way until the end of the chain and make sure that the chain is not twisted. When the line is full shift it from the loop. Take the green yarn and proceed in the same way as with the yellow yarn. After you finished with the green yarn put the two chains next to each other with the loops in front of each other. Pick 5 green loops and stretch them through 5 yellow ones. Now the next 5 yellow loops stretch them through the 5 green ones. Continue like this until the end of the chain. Try not to miss one loop. You will have now a two colored braid. Now use purple yarn, tie it to any of the edges and start “typing” on the loop lines from every link of the chain until the end. Now all you have to do is to make two more colorful chains and “tie” them together with the others using the purple yarn. Now all you have to do is to make the ends of the scarf – tassels or pompoms and your colorful yarn scarf is ready. Also, instead of using different colors you can use two contrasting colors or different shades of the same color. Bellow you can find also detailed pictures on how you can make the scar f(in case you do not understand the written instructions 🙂   ). Enjoy!!!
